No fall protection in place? The results could be fatal

Order pickers are a type of forklift that is used to move and select inventory from high shelves. While they offer a high degree of productivity, they also come with a high risk of falling if not used properly. Fortunately, there are several fall protection options available for order pickers. These include safety nets, fall arrest systems, and work positioning systems. By using the proper fall protection, you can help to prevent serious injuries.

Unfortunately, in this week’s episode, we will be discussing a company that failed to ensure that the proper fall protection was in place for an order picker and resulted in a fatal injury costing the company $18k.

Fall Protection Safety Training and why it matters

According to OSHA, fall accidents continue to be a leading cause of death and serious injury in the workplace. Falls from heights account for a significant number of workplace deaths each year, and many of these accidents could have been prevented with proper safety training. Fall protection safety training teaches employees how to safely work at heights, how to properly use safety equipment, and how to identify potential hazards. This type of training is essential for any worker who uses ladders, scaffolds, or other elevation devices. By ensuring that workers are properly trained in fall protection safety, employers can help reduce the risk of serious injuries and fatalities.
