The Citation

In this episode, we are discussing the point of operation, and a company that failed to guard the point of operation on a meat grinder and was subsequently fined $3600.

The fine states “the Employer failed to provide an effective point of operation guard” it then goes on to state that the guard would prevent the operator’s hand from entering the point of operation.

Thankfully, in this case, the operator was not injured. But, without proper guards on the machinery’s point of operation – not only could the employee have been seriously injured, but the fine would have been much higher.
